system with built-in High-End discrete class A microphone preamps.
Custom tailored 1.8 micron aluminium
ribbon motors are paired with audiophile quality handcrafted audio
circuits and high precision CNC-machined mechanics.
You will find that the RS-2 excels on many sound sources, covering a wide range of
studio recording applications, including string section recordings, piano, guitars,
woodwinds, ambience, drum overheads and vocals. The RS-2 gives you a huge, larger than
life sound with a lot of depth and details - like in good condenser mics, but at the same time
you have that classic lovely ribbon sound flavour, so much beloved by musicians and
sound engineers. Tracks recorded with the RS-2 also blend very well with other
elements in the mix. That's a distinctive feature of all the best mics on the market.
Two high-end discrete class-A mic preamps are built into the mic body.
The RS-2 can be run in either passive (bypassing the internal microphone preamplifier) or active mode.
The RS-2 is remote-controlled via a single XLR cable.
Switchable Low Cut Filter (50Hz, 80Hz and 120Hz). The switchable Air Boost mode gives you a very smooth Pultec style HF boost.
Integrated transformer-based M/S matrix. Phase Invert mode for both mic channels simultaneously.

Remote-controlled fully discreet Class A Dual Channel Microphone Preamplifier
The HUM Audio Devices RP-2 Microphone Preamplifier is a transformer balanced, fully discrete Class-A design
equipped with a remote controller. The connection between the preamp box and the controller requires only a standard XLR
cable, so it’s very convenient in use. The gain circuit uses photo cells to control the levels, so there is full
separation between the audio path and the control signal.
The RP-2 preamp offers a massive and dynamic sound with lots of sonic details.
It’s great for all types of mics, and especially well suited for Ribbon Microphones, due to its very low self-noise.
